Hi, I’m Ryan Matthews, Founder, President, and CEO of East Texas Best Football League Association. I began this Non-Profit Organization to give kids an opportunity to excel in their passion for football. My mission is to give back to my community with leadership, dedication, understanding, and inspiration. The league is designed to be affordable for parents to give their child an opportunity to grow and develop in the game of football. We hope this will reduce the crime rate, help rebuild a community with love, and most importantly to show America the best of East Texas.
As a child growing up, I most admired my Grandfather. He was a schoolteacher for 39 years and was very passionate about his love for teaching children. He was also a dedicated family man and took pride in providing for his loved ones. My Grandfather was a humble man who possessed good character, poise, loyalty, and great leadership in his community. My whole life I have strived to walk in his footsteps in hopes that I can have the same impact in my community the same way he has.
In 2004, I graduated from Longview High School. After my graduating year I worked for Dana Corporation building truck frames for General Motors. In 2007, I left Dana Corporation and started my career in the oil and gas industry by being hired by the #1 oil field service company in the world, Schlumberger Well Services. I went through Schlumberger crash course school in Kellyville, Oklahoma to take truck training courses in order to receive my Commercial Driver License. Upon completion of my CDL courses, I went on to work as an Operator for multiple oil service companies throughout my career. I entered management once I was hired in 2017 by BJ Services, one of the largest oil field service companies in the world, as a Service Supervisor.
It is a true gift from God to be able to give back to the East Texas region and a community that helped build me to be the man I am today. The league will create everlasting friendships and bonds under strong leadership and great role models. We are East Texas Best!
